Motive of FiDAS
Reality is a seamless totality, and, like windows of a house, individual disciplines provide only a partial view. So is true of wisdom as a means of comprehending and creating reality. As educational concerns move up the Data-Information-Knowledge-Wisdom hierarchy, it has become increasingly critical to develop holistic perspectives. Lest we should be blinded to the nuances of our respective disciplines, a conscious effort toward fostering interdisciplinary approach to education has been a long felt need, a need that FiDAS proposed to address to.
One of the salient aspects of the contemporary and continually emerging reality is globalization with its attending geo-politic, economic and even technological strands. In fact, it would hard to achieve globalization without digitization! As the globalization architecture slowly but surely is moving to become a negotiation based regime under the auspices of the WTO, the capacity to negotiate would depend not only on diplomatic acumen but also, and perhaps more fundamentally on national capabilities. This would be more so as regards harvesting the fruits of globalization and meeting its challenges.
In order to develop multidisciplinary perspective on technology as the major driver for globalization FiDAS is poised to assume an important role in India’s initiative in this regard. |
